Outline
This is a private Forum operated in a public manner. No technical restrictions
are set to prevent anyone posting to the Forum, using whatever name they
wish (if any at all). No membership is required.
The Forum is deemed to be a place with two primary purposes:
-
to support the game Starship Titanic
-
to provide a place where gamers and helpers can chat
We hope it will be a place where all can have fun, getting and giving the
kind of human help that makes life a much happier thing to experience.
That really is all there is to it. But, if you really must know about
the unpleasant, hidden, veiled and darkly dangerous threats that are lurking
in the background, here they are.
The unpleasant, hidden, veiled and darkly dangerous
threats that are lurking in the background and which will only worry those
very few people who purposely set out to cause trouble
The moral tone of the Forum will not be permitted to sink below that appropriate
for a family-based game. Adult humour is acceptable but foul language,
mischievous impersonation, sexual aggression, racial or religious slurs,
and any kind of bullying which would be unacceptable in decent, public
societies will not be acceptable here. There are no tricks to this and
it will do an offender no good to try wriggling his or her way around the
rules by using weasel words — Right and Wrong are not that difficult to
tell apart. In the main, the Forum users will let transgressors know if
there is a problem... it should be extremely rare that an ‘official’ posting
needs to be made. But they are an option and may be used. Offensive postings
can and will be removed.
The IP address of each poster is recorded and is available for viewing
by the webmaster. IP addresses can be barred, but this is unlikely ever
to be necessary. It is usually more effective for webmasters to leave the
evidence of wrong-doing in place and to report the matter to the offender's
Internet Service Provider with a request that the ISP take suitable action
against the account holder. That usually means suspension of service.
So although the Forum prevents foul language being posted by technical
intervention, imposters and serial offenders are hereby warned that effective
action can be taken against them. The webmaster is under no obligation
to provide any prior warning of such action. |
