SST Postcards
See the SST Postcard service as it was.
We have, as yet, no 'large' images to support
this service, and you cannot actually send a postcard to your dearly beloved
and other loved ones (as yet). But these things may yet happen. In the
great cosmology that we know as the universe beyond Belgium, who can say
what will one day happen?
SST Sounds
Hear the characters in typical fashion as they speak to you in these beautifully
crafted sample
sound files (luxury editions, every blessèd one of them).
The » SST Music Page
is external to this site and is where you can obtain four ZIP
files (generally 5MB each, one at 12MB) containing all the music coded
within the SST game files. It wasn't all used in the game and some of it
may sound a little strange when played in isolation. It was extracted by
a forum visitor who called himself JayEff and is available from this website
operated by a friend of his. I am grateful to them both for their services
and (of course) have stolen their files in case they ever suddenly disappear.
SST Wallpaper (PC and Mac)
Larger
size images for your collection, to keep, to love and (if you like)
to use as a desktop wallpaper.
SST Desktop Theme (PC)
A desktop
theme for your Windows desktop comprising a colour scheme, wallpaper
and sounds to remind you of Titanic which, like Windows itself, cannot
possibly go wrong
Complimentary 1st Class In-Flight Magazine
Perhaps you would like to view a sample of our award-winning
magazine? We were so proud of this that we issued a copy of it with
every game sold.
Archived Sites (preserved here)
A number of closed sites are now archived here. We present them to you
as places of interest to the SST community, without any attempt by us to
make commercial gain from them, and with no claims made or inferred upon
the copyright of their rightful owners. All the pages you see have been
converted at code level to make them suitable for this site. Some pages
have had obvious code errors amended, or have been amalgamated from more
han one version of the page. A few pages and/or images are sadly missing.
Otherwise, it was all mostly as you see it.
The TDV Starship Titanic site which heralded and later supported the game
of Starship Titanic was huge. Although the Chat areas were closed when
Douglas Adams passed away and the original Shop area was quickly superseded
by a DNA (rather than SST) shop, the rest of the site remained more or
less intact. However, broken external links, the odd missing files and
so on made it a very hazardous place to navigate.
In accordance
with the original site's layout, the only way to get back to the start
is to click on the small image of the Starship Titanic at the page's top
right. Beware: if you click on the "Starship Titanic" text logo, you end
up at the site's header page, which does not provide any way back to the
start page!
These are dummy, non-working pages showing what it looked like. Beware
there are many blind links in this section of the archive!
The Digital Village was a dream of an umbrella organisation which co-opted
software companies and individuals from throughout the world, assembling
and disassembling itself as needed into bigger or smaller groups as dictated
by its shared-benefit projects. Utopian in concept and seriously flawed
because of it, it nevertheless produced Starship Titanic and spawned
a couple of other ventures (such as Phase Three Studios) before the untimely
death of Douglas Adams brought about its own premature end.
Phase 3 Studios was created under The Digital Village umbrella to create
a new edition of the Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy game for the
Mac and PC platforms, using people drawn from within TDV. When Douglas
Adams died and TDV collapsed, Phase 3 Studios struggled alone for a time
but collapsed some months later.
The 2002 Edition SST Box Art
SST was re-released in 2002 in a low-cost form (£9.95 in the UK)
with different packaging. This page shows the revised
packaging.
SST Writing & Performing Credits
Which actor did which voice? Who created the design? Who authored the software?

Credits really meant.
SST Forum Resource Files
These construction
resource files will assist the technically-minded who wish to create
web pages using something of the old SST Forum's page style. |
