Welcome all SST gamers! When I first started SST (Starship Titanic),
I was a bit lost when using the Forum. I didn't know how it worked. So,
this is for you and is posted on behalf of all the established Helpers
here.

INSTALLATION & SAVING
ADVICE
We always advise gamers to do a Full Install. That speeds up the
game's transitions and avoids one or two little bugs with CD access.
SST has very few game-stopping bugs, but they do exist and it's
best to adopt a cautionary approach using the game-saving. If you save
a bugged game, that's all you'll get back -- a bugged game! So we advise
that you use all the five game SAVE slots in rotation. If you discover
that (say) the waiter cannot be beaten, that your long stick is forever
lost, or that your PET is suddenly all black, you can go back to an earlier
game state and recover the situation from there.

SHOULD YOU USE YOUR REAL NAME
AND E-MAIL?
No, not your real name. Although this SST site is a very 'safe'
place for people to visit, the Internet still has its fair share of undesirable
people. Adopt a name which does not identify you in 'real life'.
As for your email address, it is not usually necessary.

HOW TO GET HELP
Just ask your question in a new thread and, as soon as one of us
sees it, we'll answer it. You can ask supplemental questions in that same
thread, too.
It might seem like a good idea to ask a question in somebody else's
thread when the subjects are the same, but that can cause confusion to
them and us.
If you see a question you can answer, you are welcome to do so.
You are also welcome to start or join in with a chat :-)

IN-GAME HELP
Do ask the Bots to help, especially DoorBot Fentible and BellBot
Krage. The SUB will tell you how he works (and all about Mother). Krage,
sometimes, will carry things around but is pretty laid back about work,
whereas Fentible is losing his mind, poor chap. But, if you ask them for
HINT or HELP, any advice they give you is generally good (but they may
suggest something you have already done).
The Starship Tours contain a few hints, too.

PLAYING THE GAME
No harm can come you to while on board the Starship Titanic --
you can never 'die'. Start by getting to your SGT Room -- if it really
is your room, you'll hear a message as you enter it, and you'll want to
arrange your
room so as you can watch the TV.
Your aim is to assemble Titania and get the ship working again.
Bits of Titania are revealed as you solve the puzzles: some are short,
but some are long and have many stages. If you can't solve one immediately,
go on to something else. If you need us, the volunteer captains are here
to help.
When you have finished the game, you'll be on the Flight Deck and,
at last, you'll be a Captain.
Finally, the Succ-u-Bus is usually referred to here as a SUB, because
we're all dreadful spellers! Quick answers need quick typing.
